This is the fourth and final single by the first incarnation of Love Process, what might be known in the future as the original lineup, perhaps, who knows… The recording was made in the lounge of a house on Carrer 218, Palma, with Phil Dawson on vocals, Wojtek Sobolewski on bass, James Gambold on drums and Adria Acker on keyboards and in the production control room. Pau Oliver did some wonderful overdubs on his valved electric piano that thankfully found their way onto the record, increasing the mojo tenfold. I was into all things 1980’s synthesis and true analog sound when making the demos for this one and I think you can hear that in the arpeggios at the start and throughout the bridge. I added some fanboy inspired lyrics (openly quoting LOTR, Star Trek and Poltergeist) to try and maintain a coded, retro feel. It’s a song about a misunderstood outsider trying hard to battle his inner demons (or Balrog, in this instance!) to find a better life path that could lead him towards the light. Slightly autobiographical? Perhaps. Navel gazing? Certainly! A mild obsession, from a production point of view, about mid-80’s Genesis, had a lot to do with the overall sound design, song form and general aesthetic. As of December ‘23, Love Process became an electronic duo. Life moves on, things come apart and that is only natural and we’ll keep working hard to bring you new sound worlds in the very near future. So, in closing, a final thank you to all the folk who gave their time and craft to cutting this track and previous releases, and especially to you the listener, without whom we’d just be a tree falling silently in the forest of Neldoreth.
A reflection about greed and how gaining power often transforms a person for the worse, wanting to prevail over everyone else. Greed is like a mind infecting virus, once you get it it's hard to cure. This song is a collaboration with music producer Dystox, combining typical cyberpunk sounds with metal guitars and a powerful singing. The original version provided with this card belongs more to the industrial genre instead.
